Our P/N 8655, like all Technobox, Inc. Socket Savers, is intended to sit between a target mezzanine card and an XMC site on a host or adapter card. The installed extraction tool simplifies removal of the mezzanine which can be lifted using even force, eliminating wiggling or tugging that could irreparably damage the mezzanine or the host/carrier site connectors.
P/N 8655 is a combination of Technobox P/N 7772 and P/N 5332.
P/N 7772 has VITA 61 XMC mezzanine connectors and VITA 42 XMC host connectors allowing customers to connect a VITA 42 XMC mezzanine card to a VITA 61 host.
P/N 5332 is an extraction tool which aids in removing XMC mezzanine cards which is soldered into P/N 7772 to make P/N 8655

Socket Savers are designed to fulfill a fundamental, but important job – wear out. They are designed to to be expendable, to absorb heavy cycles of insertions and extractions of mezzanine cards. For test and development environments they are a particularly useful means to preserve investment in far more valuable host and carrier boards.
In addition to their basic function, socket savers also can be used simply to raise a mezzanine to improve access or to aid alignment for cabling, etc. Connections are routed in a one-to-one direct correspondence.
