Product Information

The primary use for the XMC socket saver is to prevent wear out of the XMC connectors on a carrier card or mezzanine card. The XMC socket saver also elevates the XMC by about 12mm.

The XMC socket saver can extract XMC modules under test with an optional extraction tool. The extraction tool, P/N 5332, mounts on the socket saver and pulls on the edges of the mezzanine card with two metal fingers to apply a more balanced removal force.

The extraction tool, P/N 5332, can also be ordered by itself for use on customer XMCs. The XMC socket saver has 2 XMC male connectors on one side and 2 XMC female connectors on the other.

All signals are routed 1 to 1 and there are no common signals such as ground or power planes. Mounting holes for XMC standoffs allow the board to be fastened down to a carrier card. The socket saver is offered with VITA 42, VITA 61 and VITA 88 XMC connectors along with various combinations and depopulations.

Because of the large insertion and removal forces created by the VITA 61 connectors, Technobox applies edge bonding material and connector lubricant to boards with those connectors installed.
